南无阿弥陀佛!🙏🙏🙏
Key Points from Scroll Seven
Maintaining a heart of compassion will remove all obstacles in one’s life. We are fortunate in this life to be able to listen and practice the Dharma, becoming true followers of the Bodhi Path.
• Be grateful for one’s blessings: We are lucky to be born as humans and not denizens of hell, hungry ghosts, animals, mleccha (spiritually isolated place), long-life heavens, or being born disabled or sickly, or into a family with wrong views.
• Be grateful for the opportunity to take refuge in the Triple Gem: Faith is the root of all merits. Doubt will obstruct one’s path, but those with the Right View can overcome all challenges.
* Rejoice in Hearing the Dharma: Recognize the Dharma as medicine for all beings, and remember the kindness of the Triple Gem.
• Fortify the Bodhi Mind: With the protection of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, we can fortify our minds across every lifetime and achieve enlightenment earlier.
• Make great vows: Following the Repentance Sutra, we make sincere vows and cultivate all that is good, hoping to liberate all sentient beings from suffering.
• Pay homage on behalf of the Heavens: We take refuge in and pay homage to the Buddha on behalf of the heavenly beings, devas, and guardians to repay them for their protection.
Key Points from Scroll Eight
After paying homage to the Buddha for the Heavens, this scroll guides us to take refuge in and pay homage to the Buddha for the Asuras, Maras, human kings, princes, Bhikkhus, Bhikkhunis, parents, teachers, people, and past life parents.
Key Points from Scroll Nine
This scroll continues to propagate making vows, paying homage, and taking refuge in the Buddha for those in the three lower realms, namely the Hell, Hungry Ghost, and Animal Realms.
• Making Vows for Six Realms: May all beings in the Six Realms listen and understand the Dharma, gaining enlightenment and breaking free from the cycle of death and rebirth.
• Awareness of Impermanence: Be aware of impermanence and understand that everything in our past, present, and future lives are the results of our karma, thereby becoming free from the suffering of attachment.
• Sharing of Merits: Share every bit of merits gained from all our blessings and compassion to liberate those who are suffering.
Key Points from Scroll Ten
This scroll teaches us to share our merits, cultivate the six perfections, and to enter the Dharma Doors to achieve the true Bodhi.
• Dedication of Merits of Bodhisattvas: Bodhisattvas subdue the minds of beings for true compassion, with true equality. By dedicating merits to the Bodhisattvas and Mahasattvas, we can also enter the Bodhisattva Path.
• Making Six Roots Vows: We make vows with our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind to cultivate purity in our thoughts, words, and actions. We purify ourselves by following the Five Precepts, Ten Virtues, and Six Recollections.
• Entering the Dharma Doors: The 84,000 Dharma doors encourage us to be rid of envy, do good, walk the right path, and extinguish all delusions.
• Final Exhortation: By the merits of this repentance, we vow to make great offerings, devote ourselves to the Buddha, cultivate the supreme field of blessings, and tirelessly learn the Dharma until we attain enlightenment and fulfill the Bodhi vow.
Let us join the Emperor Liang Dharma Assembly together, dispelling all past negative karma and imperfections in our sincere repentance. Let us calm our anxious minds in the cool water of the Dharma and use our limited time in this life to cultivate compassion for all beings. By resonating with the Triple Gem, we return to our original intentions and grant our lives the most beautiful refuge! Namo to the Great Compassionate Father of the World!
