Prayers for Departed Unborn and Young Children

In Buddhism, we believe that all phenomena arise and cease with causes and conditions. According to the Commentary on the Śūraṅgama Sūtra, “The Buddha’s teachings, from the most basic to the most complex, will never stray from causes and conditions.”

A house can only be built when all the necessary materials are gathered. A banquet can only be held when the timings of those involved converge. Similarly, encounters and departures in life can only come to pass with the right causes and conditions. Otherwise, some things are just not meant to be.

The same applies to our unborn and deceased young children. Karma brought them to us and left a brief yet lasting impression on our lives. Although we could not walk this path with them for long, the karmic connection they created is indelible.

The Dharma teaches us not to wallow in grief, but to fill the hole left behind by what could have been with compassion and cultivation.

You may dedicate a tablet for these unborn and young children at the Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Assembly to help them break free from suffering and be reborn in a better realm by paying homage to the Buddhas, repenting sincerely, and transferring merits to them with compassion. If you are interested, please leave your contact details through the link below. Our staff will get back to you promptly to assist with registration.

May all the unborn and young children be reborn in a better place with the power of the Buddha’s vows. May all who were parents let go of their grief and move forward with peace of mind.

Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of Ten Directions and Three Periods, as proclaimed in the Emperor Liang Repentance!
