🏮 Offerings
🟠 Invitation of24 Devas
Update: Registration is closed for this Offering
In Chinese culture, every early of the year, there is a tradition of praying to Jade Emperor which symbolizes the respect to Gods and ancestors. In accordance to this tradition, when Buddhism spread to China, devotees too pay their respect and offer meals to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and Devas based on Jin Guang Ming Sutra (also known as Golden Light Sutra or Suvarṇaprabhā Sūtra), This event is the first Dharma Assembly of the year which devotees will pray to eradicate bad calamities and to wish for prosperous year ahead. In laymen terms, we can also called this event as inviting or “treating” Triple Gems and 24 Devas to have meal together and to thank them for protecting us all year long.
“Offering to Buddha” signifies Dana to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha while “Offering to 24 Devas” means offering to members of Heavenly Realms represented by 24 Devas, i.e. Heavenly Gods, Heavenly Armies etc.
